Maya Pace
LPC

Hi, I’m Maya, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a diverse background in supporting children, adults, and families. My journey in helping professions began while working as a nanny during college and later included work as a WIC Nutritionist and in early childhood and elementary education. Along the way, I discovered that what I enjoyed most was connecting with people, listening to their stories, and helping them navigate life’s challenges, which ultimately led me to discover my passion for counseling. While working as an Associate Licensed Counselor, I also became a certified postpartum doula, expanding my experience supporting individuals and families through important life transitions. Today, I work with children, adolescents, and adults using a warm, curious, collaborative, and strengths-based approach. I strive to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard and understood while gaining insight, recognizing their strengths, and discovering new possibilities for growth.

Why I Became a Therapist

I became a clinician out of a desire to better understand myself and the people around me. I’ve always been curious about people—who they are, what shapes them, and how their experiences influence the way they see themselves and the world. Life can bring experiences and transitions we never expected or prepared for, and I wanted to help people navigate those moments while growing into a deeper understanding of themselves. In many ways, I became the person I once needed—someone who listens, seeks to understand, and helps people recognize their strengths, make sense of their experiences, and grow more fully into who they are.

What I Enjoy Most About Helping Clients

What I enjoy most about helping clients is the connection and those “aha!” moments that can happen in therapy. I love seeing the moment when something clicks—when a client gains a new understanding of themselves, recognizes their own strength, or begins to feel empowered to approach their life differently. I also think it is a really special experience to be able to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where people can share parts of themselves and their experiences that they may not feel comfortable sharing elsewhere. Being able to listen, connect, explore, and witness people grow more fully into themselves is one of the most rewarding parts of being a clinician.

My Counseling Style

My counseling style is relaxed, laid-back, warm, and conversational. I want therapy to feel comfortable and natural while providing a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can openly explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I use an eclectic approach, drawing from different therapeutic methods based on each client’s individual needs, personality, and goals. I’m naturally curious and enjoy asking thoughtful questions, listening, and helping clients make connections and recognize patterns. I balance deeper self-exploration with practical solutions and encouragement.

Starting therapy can sometimes feel intimidating, especially if it’s your first time. My goal is to make the process feel comfortable, relaxed, and collaborative. You don’t have to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say when you arrive. Come as you are, and we’ll start from there.
