To the Adolescent/ Young Adult who feels stuck:

What is stopping you from living your truth? Could it be the fear of criticism, or the potential of getting hurt? Both of these are external factors diminishing the significance of what you are feeling. Don’t allow the unknown to steer you away from a brighter future.

You need someone to see beyond the armor that guards you. Being vulnerable is terrifying and being honest may hurt. I will support you on this journey.

It’s time to pick up your pen, as you are the author of your own story and that begins NOW!

Procrastination keeps you out of position. It is time to put in the work!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (ALC) who is passionate about creating a space where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow. Since January 2024, I have provided counseling services at Work in Progress, supporting children, adolescents, and adults as they navigate challenges related to life transitions, interpersonal conflict, trauma, depression, and emotional regulation. I understand that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, unfamiliar, or even intimidating, and my goal is to make the therapeutic process feel safe, comfortable, and collaborative. I strive to create an environment where clients can show up as their authentic selves without fear of judgment while exploring their experiences, emotions, and goals.

My approach to therapy is warm, supportive, and tailored to each individual’s needs. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients better understand themselves, develop effective coping strategies, and recognize their own strengths. I believe that growth happens through self-awareness, connection, and the courage to make meaningful changes. It is my privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward becoming the best version of themselves.

Why I Became a Therapist

I became a clinician because I have always had a passion for helping underserved and underrepresented communities and creating spaces where individuals feel heard, understood, and valued. I strive to educate others that mental health does not always appear the way it is portrayed on social media, television, or in movies; often, people are silently navigating challenges that may not be easily recognized. Through my own experiences, I understand the importance of finding your voice and having the freedom to fully express yourself, and my goal is to help others discover and utilize their voice so they feel empowered to advocate for themselves and their healing. As a Birmingham,AL and Birmingham City School native, I have seen how mental health can be overlooked or dismissed within our communities and school systems, and I am committed to bringing greater awareness, reducing stigma, and helping individuals find a deeper sense of self-peace and emotional well-being.

What I Enjoy Most About Helping Clients

What I enjoy most about helping clients is witnessing their growth as they begin to find their voice, recognize their strengths, and discover their own sense of autonomy. I find it rewarding to support individuals as they navigate challenges, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and build confidence in their ability to create meaningful change. Watching clients grow into the best version of themselves and seeing the progress they make throughout their therapeutic journey is what continues to motivate and inspire me as a counselor.

My Counseling Style

I would describe my counseling style as warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I believe therapy is a partnership where clients should feel respected, understood, and empowered throughout their healing journey. I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment where individuals feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences while showing up as their authentic selves. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, utilizing interventions derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy while incorporating an eclectic approach to ensure treatment is individualized and responsive to each client’s unique needs. I recognize that each client’s experiences, goals, and challenges are different, so I integrate a variety of therapeutic interventions and techniques to best support their growth and progress.
